The Global Entrepreneurship Week is a celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch
startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth, and expand human welfare. Note that this year’s
event runs November 16-22,2020 so do not miss your chance!
To give you a little historical context, GEW emerged in 2008 as a result of Enterprise Week UK and Entrepreneurship Week USA 2007. Since
its creation, more than 10 million people from roughly 170 countries have participated in entrepreneurship-related
events, activities and competitions during GEW.This annual event occurs over the span of one week and includes the participation
of millions of entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, researchers, educators, entrepreneurship support organizations and interested
individuals. Currently, 165 countries celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week running national campaigns that generate approximately 35,000 events,
activities and competitions.
What is a global entrepreneur?
A global entrepreneur seeks out and conducts new and innovative business activities
across national borders. These activities may consist of exporting, licensing, opening a new sales office, or acquiring
During this year’s GEW, thousands of events and competitions in 170 countries inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial
activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors, and even investors. Powered by the Kauffman Foundation, the initiative
is supported by dozens of world leaders and a network of more than 15,000 partner organizations.

Step 1: Create Your GEN Profile
It all starts by joining GEN.

information you provide, the more you will be able to engage with the GEN community and stay up-to-date on the GEW activities happening simultaneously
around the world.
Step 2: Organize an Event or Activity
Inspire your local entrepreneurial community to engage in events and activities, while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors.
By organizing an event or activity during GEW in your local area, you will help strengthen your local startup ecosystem while being part of a global movement
celebrated in more than 170 countries.
What counts as an event or activity? Just about anything.
Startup pitch competitions. Entrepreneurship film festivals. Hack-a-thons. Speaker series. Policy Roundtables. Research summit. Hands-on workshops. GEW events
and activities span the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem. This GEW, organize or find an event in your area.
Be sure to add your event to the GEW website to let the world know what you are doing. You will be able to track your country’s #GEW2019 events and even see which
countries host the most activities each year.
Step 3: Find an Event or Activity
Tens of thousands of events, activities and competitions take place during Global Entrepreneurship Week each year. You can search the GEW database for events,
activities and competitions around the world.
Step 4: Engage
You can connect with other #GEW2020 participants and organizers through the Global Entrepreneurship Network platform by directly messaging the individual.
